Video Games in 2010 & 2011 Recap - Motion Sensing
Sony Playstation & Playstation Move - take a look at Tiger Woods with the new motion sensing controller (just like Wii, but with one controller, not 2): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOgT6EqYoaA This is the best example of why you should have a controller when needing motion sensing.
Microsoft Xbox 360 & Kinect - http://e3.gamespot.com/press-conference/microsoft-e3/?tag=live%3Bpress-conf-list%3Bmicrosoft%3Btitle ***Click on the link & then pause the video 1st. Let it download for 5-10 minutes. Go to the 34th minute in it & you’ll see all the stuff Kinect can do. My favorite is doing the EA Active stuff without any controller. It’s about ¾ of the way into the video.
So what is Nintendo doing? They made the handheld Nintendo DS into a 3D screen without glasses - the Nintendo 3DS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYnyBxVhK_c. This video is the closest thing you can get to seeing it in 3D. Nintendo said that it’s much better to see first-hand.
To sum it up, everyone is into motion sensing. Wii is 1st generation with 2 controllers (connect by a wire - not so good), Playstation has one controller, and Xbox 360 has no controller. In the end, though it does all come down to the experience. So you need to have the hardware work + games that immerse you.
Personally I'm just glad to see the human race finally getting off the couch!
